Arab countries: halal certified meat for the Gulf and North Africa
APM Traders supplies Arab countries with halal certified frozen beef, lamb, goat and poultry. Certification is guaranteed throughout the chain, and we control the origin, quality and traceability of every shipment, from production to delivery.
Priority markets
Our main destinations are Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the other Gulf countries (Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain), together with the Maghreb and North Africa. We handle the halal certificates, health documentation and import requirements of each country, in full or mixed refrigerated containers.
The Gulf: a market with high purchasing power, with demand for quality cuts for local consumption, hospitality and a large expatriate workforce, including oil and gas industry camps.
Maghreb and North Africa: consumption centred on lamb, beef and offal, the basis of traditional dishes such as tagine, couscous and Ramadan soups.
Our star products
- Lamb in 6 cuts: the carcass is split into two halves and each half into three pieces. It is a practical format for cutting and sale, and lamb is the most prized meat across the region and the centrepiece of major celebrations.
- Goat in 6 cuts: with the same six-piece carcass cut. Goat has a strong tradition in the Gulf and is in high demand among the expatriate population from South Asia and Africa.
- Beef offal: tongue, liver, heart, tripe and oxtail, highly valued in Maghreb and Middle Eastern cooking.
Iberian pork for Dubai
For the Dubai market we also supply Iberian pork, for licensed distributors and establishments serving the non-Muslim population and the tourism sector. It is shipped through channels and consignments separate from our halal line, to preserve the integrity of the certification.
Peak consumption periods
Demand is concentrated around the major festivals of the Islamic calendar, which follow the lunar calendar and move forward by about 11 days each year. That is why we plan orders months in advance.
- Ramadan: meat consumption rises with the family meals held every evening (iftar).
- Eid al-Fitr: marks the end of Ramadan with celebrations in which lamb and beef take centre stage.
- Hajj season and Eid al-Adha: the biggest peak of the year for lamb and goat, especially in Saudi Arabia with the arrival of millions of pilgrims.
- Winter tourist season (October to April): hospitality demand rises in the Emirates and across the Gulf.
